Freedom of information
interactive CD-ROM
Understanding the Act and how to manage it
Aim
To ensure that staff within Public Sector organisations have the knowledge to
deal with the Freedom of Information Act efficiently when it comes into effect
on 1 January 2005.
About the programme
Video Arts, the learning experts, and Masons Solicitors, leaders in FOI and
information law, have come together to create the Freedom of information
programme - a comprehensive resource to help your staff understand and comply
with the new demands of this legislation.
Based around a fictitious TV channel, the programme includes training modules
that take the form of different TV programmes to help make the content more
memorable and understandable. The six modules each deal with a different aspect
of the Act, allowing training to be delivered in small, effective segments. The
modules cover all aspects of the Act: An overview of the Freedom of Information
Act, publication schemes and records management, handling a request, data
protection, exemptions and Freedom of Information Act enforcement.
There are interactive questions at the end of each module to help check
understanding and reinforce the learning. The programme also includes detailed
legal learning points and other practical material to help users understand more
and deal with specific queries.
