Based on the TOPSS England Foundation Standards, Foundations in Care
provides full coverage of the Foundation Stage training that must take place
within the first six months of an employee beginning work in social care.
It includes five trainee workbooks each covering one unit of the
Foundation Stage training, plus a Manager's Guide, and is for
learners who are working with a trainer or manager in their workplace. The
Manager's Guide also contains information about using Foundation
Stage training to prepare learners for NVQ Level 2.

Getting Started in Care includes a linked Manager's Guide
and Trainee Workbook, to give providers of social care all the
material they need to deliver a programme of training based on the
TOPSS England Induction Standards.
Manager's Guide
The Manager's Guide provides an introduction to the induction
standards and suggests ways of developing in-house training programmes. It
also includes help with diagnosis and guidance for basic skills development,
as well as sign-posting to further sources of support, including training
resources.
Trainee Workbook
The main aim of the Workbook is to enable trainees to develop
the skills and knowledge they need to guide them through the first stages of
employment in the care sector. The material also helps them to pinpoint any
specific areas of need in key skills and to generate evidence towards a
Level 2 NVQ.
Getting Started in Care complements and expands on the useful
guidance already available from TOPSS, to provide a complete kit of
materials for delivery of the statutory six-week induction programme for new
recruits to social care settings. It has been developed in association with
Suffolk NVQ
Consortium.
