    On The Brink Of Perfection

This amusing video poses the question "What level of quality is acceptable? Should we settle for 90%, 95% or even 99% quality?" The video then goes on to address what sort of chaotic results we could expect if telephone companies, car manufacturers, bridge builders, architects, etc, etc, only achieved 99% quality. This is an excellent video to begin a training session on Quality. The video will relax the audience with humour while at the same time underscoring the message "Near enough is not good enough".

How to Develop Team Goals Double Pack
Comprising How to Develop Team Goals and How to Give and Receive Effective Feedback

How to Develop Team Goals and How to Give and Receive Effective Feedback are two short animated film programmes, commissioned and produced by Gower. At 10 minutes long, each film is an ideal session starter for a group teaching session or can provide the core of a short team meeting or training session. Using animation allows the films to present their messages in a direct and entertaining manner and avoids the problem of an inappropriate context or location. The simplicity of the animated programmes makes them suitable both for experienced and first-time trainers. The training support material provides the basis for a developed experiential session as well as simpler material for direct intervention by the team leader or facilitator.

The workbook Managing Performance provides the basis for the technical content, and is supplied with the films. You can therefore feel confident about using film and printed materials that use the same language and the same messages. The addition of the workbooks to the package means that the programme will have a good application for learning resource centres and other self-development and self-paced learning initiatives you may be developing.

    How to Develop Team Goals
Follow our intrepid band of Vikings, shipwrecked during their voyage of discovery to the New World. Brown Hilda, their leader, faced with life on a desert island, works with them to generate and visualise a set of goals for their future, which they can all recognise and to which they can all aspire. As part of this process, they not only manage to identify the resources needed to achieve their goals but also to action plan a strategy that will repair their ship and help them, once more, on their way to discovering America. This short, animated film is designed for group use or self-development.

How to Give and Receive Effective Feedback

The Viking shipyard includes crew members responsible for building the ship itself; it also includes a crew member whose responsibility is to keep the crew fed and watered. Unfortunately, lack of feedback from his crew members and his team leader lead to a crisis of confidence for Bogridge, from which everyone, including Brown Hilda must draw some painful lessons. This short, animated film is designed for group use or self-development.

    Duration:
How to Develop Team Goals 10 minutes; How to Give and Receive Effective Feedback 10 minutes.

These films are also available individually:

Best of Energisers and Pacechangers (A collection of 100 activities)

Energisers and pacechangers are essential craft tools for the trainer. Effective mastery of these tools helps distinguish between a novice and a more ‘seasoned’ operator.

Energisers revitalise jaded and weary participants, allowing them to use their minds and bodies in a different way, and thence to return to the programme refreshed and more receptive to learning.

Pacechangers may either speed up or slow down the tempo of the session. As with energisers, they allow a smooth transition between activities of different types and styles.

The 100 activities in Best of Energisers and Pacechangers are a collection of top exercises from nine Fenman resources, providing a comprehensive and valuable resource of tried and tested materials. The activities are diverse in nature and reflect the different philosophies of their authors. They have been chosen for their different types of appeal and their appropriateness across a wide range of training situations.

All the activities are very simple to run, and most require no handouts or specialist props, so they can be used anytime or anywhere – even if you hadn’t planned for one, just browse through the contents page either in the pack or on the CD-ROM. You will be excited by the choice and the ideas of when and where to use them will just start to flow.
